If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.’

Loren Eiseley

Located in the beautiful Heidel Valley, just outside the quaint town of White River, in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is KatiKati Farm.  The word KatiKati, meaning "in between" was taken from the Swahili language, aptly describing our piece of heaven, nestled in between the foothills of the Escarpment and surrounded by Macadamia and Avo Farms.  KatiKati is blessed with an abundance of delicious, healthy and pure water, sourced from a natural spring and a borehole on the premises.

Realising that tasty and clean natural water is a scarcity to those living in town and making use of municipal water, we decided to share our blessings with others.  Focusing on excellent pricing and attentive, personal service, KatiKati Water is supplied to businesses, private residences, sporting events, restaurants, shops and spaza shops, food trucks, accommodation facilities, venues and many more.

Providing the option of personalised, custom-made labels, our products can be used as marketing material, sharing your branding and contact details not on a business card, but with a thoughtful gift of drinking water.

Because we are still new to the water-industry, we are willing to adjust our products and service according to the needs of our customers.  Let us know what your water requirements are - both for personal and business use - and we'll put together a package suitable to your needs, delivered to your door.

Phase 1

As we prepare to launch the natural water business, the surroundings of the natural spring are being meticulously organized and prepared.

Natural spring

Nestled at the base of the valley on KatiKati Farm, pure and pristine water bubbles from the earth, creating a clear, natural pool.

Surrounding the spring, invasive plants and shrubs have been thoughtfully removed, while the pool is carefully covered to prevent animals, leaves, and branches from contaminating the water.

Temporary storage

A pipe has been installed to transport water from the natural pool at the spring to a 500-liter storage tank located approximately 15 meters downstream from the spring.

The overflow from this tank returns the water to the natural stream. It's important to note that the water is neither filtered nor treated; the tank's sole purpose is to facilitate the collection of water and offer additional storage capacity.

Access

To facilitate the collection of water from the tank, natural stairs have been carved into the embankment, complemented by a handrail crafted from some of the Bluegum trees that were removed.

Vehicles can approach within approximately 50 meters of the spring, from which point the cans must be manually transported to the tank for filling.

Phase 2

Building the water room

Cleaning out the space

The space to be used as a water room is cleared out and the roof structure is removed.

Meanwhile, the water from both the borehole and spring at KatiKati Farm is professionally analyzed and tested to ensure we install the necessary purification systems, according to the results of the analysis done.

Building the water room

Walls are built, a new roof is added, and all the internal walls are plastered.  An existing wall just outside the water room, is extended so that the filter system can be fixed to this wall.

Finishing off

The floor is upgraded, the walls are painted, and isolating ceiling boards are installed.  Thereafter, all plumbing, piping, drainage systems and electrical connection points are installed.

Phase 3

Installing the filtration system

Connecting to the source

The borehole which has been supplying drinking water to KatiKati guests and residents is connected to our JoJo-station, which currently includes two tanks and will in time be expanded to three or more tanks.

Installing the filters

Early in April, Fanike from H2O Water Purification Systems installs our custom-made filter system, as per the recommendations made from the results of the professional analyses done by REID-LINE Scientific Services CC in Table View, Cape Town.

Installing the rinsing and bottling stations

The rinsing station, bottling station and wrapping station is installed.  After aquiring our first stock of bottles, caps and labels, we are ready to start up KatiKati Natural Water.
